5 Ingredient CrockPot Chicken & Dumplings

This is a "dump" recipe: as in dump it in the crock pot and let it do its magic!

Seriously y'all the hardest part of the whole deal was finding my can opener because ONE ingredient didn't have a pop top lid. (Why do they even make cans without them any more?!)

But I digress…

I've seen similar recipes but tweaked it to my liking. One that I tried called for two cans of cream of chicken. On top of chicken broth. And chicken breasts. My palate found that pretty boring and I love the bits of potato and celery in my version. You can really use any "cream of…" soups in this dish.

So here it is: my easy-peasy-go-to-cold-weather-crockpot-recipe!

Ingredients

(Feeds 2 adults and 1 toddler with plenty of leftovers)

  • (2) Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • (1) Can of Cream of Celery
  • (1) Can of Cream of Potato
  • (1) Can of Chicken Broth
  • (1) Small Tube of Refrigerator Biscuits

Prep

Uhm… there is none! Thaw your chicken if it's frozen.

Cook

Drop your chicken breasts, cream of celery, cream of potato and chicken broth in the crockpot. Set the timer (6-8 hours on low) and let. it. go.

About 30-40 minutes before you're ready to eat, shred the chicken using two forks and break out the refrigerator biscuits. You're going to them up. These are your "dumplings." Push the pieces of biscuit down into the sauce so they don't puff up and "bake" like bread.

Let everything finished cooking for the last 30 minutes and you're ready to serve!

I usually just add salt and pepper to mine, Jonathan likes to sprinkle cheese and add sour cream to his (it doesn't need it, it's super creamy but… he doesn't tell me how craft and I don't tell him how to eat 🤣)

And that's it my friends!

If you really wanted to, I think adding green beans or a can of sliced carrots would work well too! I just love the simplicity of this (and Jonathan detests squishy carrots of any sort…)
