How to make it
- 1 Create your design. Using your fuse bead pegboard, build a balanced shape around the center — circles work great, but octagons spin just as well! The most important thing is that your design is balanced so it spins smoothly. Leave an opening in the center large enough for your bearing to fit through.
- 2 Fuse the beads. Place parchment paper over your design and iron according to the fuse bead manufacturer's directions until the beads are melted together. (This is the grown-up step!)
- 3 Keep it flat. After ironing, sandwich your design between two metal baking pans or cookie sheets while it cools completely. This prevents warping — especially important for larger designs. Don't skip this!
- 4 Add the bearing. Once fully cooled, gently press the bearing into the center opening. Want extra durability? A small drop of super glue where the bearing meets the beads does the trick. Let it dry completely before moving on.
- 5 Add the spinner caps. Attach the fidget spinner button caps to both sides of the bearing according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- 6 Spin! Hold the spinner by the center caps and give it a flick. Watch the colors and patterns blend together — so satisfying!
Tips for the best spin: Symmetrical designs spin best. Bright, contrasting colors create the coolest blending effect while it spins. Let kids experiment with different shapes! And seriously — don't skip the cooling step between the metal pans. It makes a huge difference.
